Program Overview
Held the third Thursday of every month at the prestigious Terminal City Club in Downtown Vancouver, this multi-disciplinary study club is designed for dentists who want to deepen their implant knowledge through real-world cases and mentorship.
Each evening includes:

Dr. Sher Shahab, BA., BDentSc, MSc, Cert Pros, FRCD(C)
Dr. Sher Shah Shahab is a surgical prosthodontist. He earned his dental degree from Trinity College Dublin and practiced in Ireland and Canada before completing his MSc and Prosthodontics training at the University of Toronto where his research focused on full-arch implant-supported solutions. His current practice in Kitsilano, Vancouver centers on implant dentistry, full-mouth rehabilitation, and fixed restorations for missing teeth.
A former faculty member at the University of Toronto, Dr. Shahab taught both undergraduate and at postgraduate prosthodontics. He continues to mentor and collaborate with local dentists in Vancouver, sharing his expertise through teaching and case discussions. His research focus
Dr. Charles Park, BSc, DDS, MSc, FRCD(C)
Dr. Charles Park is a Board-Certified Specialist in Periodontics. He practices in Vancouver and is an adjunct professor at UBC’s Faculty of Dentistry. He completed his BSc in Pharmacology at UBC and earned his DDS from the University of Toronto with honours and multiple academic awards. He then completed a General Practice Residency at Mount Sinai Hospital, focusing on complex and trauma cases.
Dr. Park later returned to the University of Toronto for a 3-year specialty in Periodontics, where he also taught part-time. His research focused on soft tissue adaptation around teeth and implants.
Dr. Ahmed Ballo, BDS, EDA, DABOI, MSc, Dip Pros, PhD
Dr. Ahmed Ballo is a surgically trained prosthodontist specializing in implant dentistry, esthetics, and fullmouth reconstruction. He has practices across several Vancouver clinics and teaches as an adjunct professor at UBC. Born in Parma, Italy, Dr. Ballo is a Board-Certified Prosthodontist in Canada and a Diplomate of the American Board of Oral Implantology. He completed his prosthodontic specialty and MSc at UBC after earning his BDS in Libya and a PhD in Finland, followed by advanced training in Sweden.
Dr. Ballo is the Canadian chair of the International Team for Implantology (ITI) and leads the Vancouver Digital ITI Study Club. He is a published researcher, international lecturer, and award recipient for excellence in implant dentistry and biomaterials. His work bridges clinical practice, education, and innovation in digital and surgical implantology.
Dr. Nayeem Esmail, BSc, DMD, FRCD (C)
Dr. Nayeem Esmail received his Bachelor of Science degree in Biochemistry from McGill University and graduated Magna Cum Laude from Boston University Goldman School of Dental Medicine. He completed a four-year residency in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, D.C. His training provided him with a wide scope of expertise in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery, with special interests in dental implants, tissue engineering, reconstructive surgery, trauma, and facial cosmetic procedures. He has also conducted extensive research on Sleep Apnea.
Dr. Esmail is Board Certified by both the American Board of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and is a Fellow of the Royal College of Dentists of Canada. He maintains a private practice in Abbotsford and Vancouver, BC, and treats facial trauma and maxillofacial emergencies at Abbotsford Regional and Chilliwack Hospitals.
Karolina Bukin
Karolina Bukin brings over two decades of dental experience with a focus on patient-centered care, case coordination, and practice efficiency. She has worked in all facets of dentistry and is passionate about guiding patients through their treatment journeys with empathy and clarity.
Her strength lies in building trust with patients and helping them understand the value and benefits of their proposed treatment. Karolina also helps implement systems that improve case acceptance and clinic operations. With a background in both clinical and administrative roles, she bridges communication between patients and providers, ensuring a seamless and supportive experience.
Will Varda RDT
Will Varda is the owner of Anvarda Dental Services in North Vancouver, BC, Canada. A second generation lab tech, he grew up with a lab down the hallway from his childhood bedroom. Traditionally trained as a ceramist, he has spent the last decade deep diving into everything digital. You can find him on any one of dozens of digital dentistry facebook groups, or lecturing for 3shape and exocad in Chicago or at the PDC. He is the president of the Dental Technician Association of BC, and loves learning and sharing ideas from techs around the world. Sometimes, he even makes teeth.
